Well, I can’t really quote prices here, but I can say that we are
“very similar to other systems sold” in price. I am refering, of course,
to other vendors who sell complete systems or kits, not the ones who
sell re-furbished hard drive systems.

Actually, Roger…
WE don’t mind your quoting prices where it is clear you
are being asked a direct question by a member about such
matters. So you may feel free to do so… observing
of course our usual SIG rules for sober, factual, reporting
of stuff about one’s own products, and staying away from
anything tht looks like advertising or hype or disparaging
comparisons to to other stuff.
Naturally, were we to suspect the “member” is a ringer
and the question is a “setup” to allow an ad, we’d
be upset. A long time ago there were folks here…
and on CIS… who did that. But we haven’t seen such
sneaky stuff here in a long time,… and I doubt you
are the sort who’d try that!
So… to repeat… IF a member asked an unsolicited
question about how much a given one of your products
costs, none of us here on staff have any objection
to your answering that question.

Around $500 for a “kit” (you assemble & format) or about $600 for a
“ready to run” finished system. (20 meg) Also available with various
configurations, such as (1) All RS-DOS (Basic), (2) OS-9 and RS-DOS or
(3) All OS-9. The OS-9 can be booted into directly from hard disk
without losing Disk Basic or using special boot roms. You boot into
OS-9 from the RS-DOS hard disk (with the DOS command). I think Dale
Puckett will be discussing this setup in the coming Rainbow.

I use B&B XT-ROM. I have two boot files. 1One is for me, and loads a standard
shell. But my dad can press O on boot, and the other boot file loads in
a menu program, so he doesn’t have to ever touch the Shell. He likes it!
