This is a quick video of the Tom Mix Software game, Sailor Man, which is an obvious clone of the arcade game Popeye. This is playable on all CoCo 1/2/3 models. While there’s no BGM, it’s still a fun game to play, and fairly accurate to the original.

Ouch. Wrong pallette!
Yeah… I’m open to suggestions on how to get Vcc to switch palettes…
Do a video capture from a real CoCo?
Lol, yes, that would be ideal, and I’d LOVE to. However, I don’t have a camcorder that will do it. I thought about trying MESS on the pre-CoCo3 games, but, I’m pretty sure it has the same issues.
If it’s just a lack of artifacting, MESS and XRoar will both do that. I’ve only ever seen this game on a PAL Dragon (so black & white) or under emulation, so unless it’s standard NTSC artifacting, I’m not sure how it’s supposed to look.
Actually, you can switch the color artifacing in VCC. Hold down the F1 key, and while holding it down, press F5.
Thanks for the tip, Rick, I had no clue. Now I can go back and redo the artifact games so they look right.
Oh, it’s just the phase you’re talking about? But this game supports both – you can see it giving the option at the beginning!
Does Vcc support more than simple colour mapping? As a CoCo 3 emulator I could see why it wouldn’t have to support anything more.
Just played a round of Sailor Man On Vcc with the correct palette. I’ll record a new game and repost it tomorrow.
Nice!
