01/20/10: MicroSD by broke_coco, | Tags: | Category: General | 4 comments

Hello,

I have a few questions about the MicroSD…

1) I do not own a coco3. Just my tired old 64K CoCo2. I also have a CoCo1 with 16K on the way. Both are cassette only systems. Will this device work well on these lesser systems? I don’t have much interest (yet) in OS9.

2) I read it has a removable SD card. Is this readable on a PC so I can Xfer disk images back and forth?

3) Does it come with documentation? Ive never owned a disk system so I don’t know much about how the DOS works on the CoCo.

Thanks!

Yes, the MicroSD Pak will work on the 16K CoCo 2 and gives you Disk BASIC because it uses the CoCoNet ROM

CoCoNet also gives virtual floppies through a serial cable or RS-232 Pak

The MicroSD card’s raw sectors can be accessed on a PC using the right software

    Thanks

What is the name of the server side software? Anything run on OSX/*nix?

It’s just called the CoCoNet Server

There’s a GUI version but it’s not updated like the console window version is yet

It runs under Windows at this time, but if somebody knows how to port Visual Basic NET to another platform, I’ll let them have at it

An update to this thread… yes, the Disk BASIC manual has been scanned to PDF format by several people and these documents are on the web here and there, as well as on the Super CoCo Archive DVD.
