06/27/10: Introducing CoCoPAK – Companion to MicrosSD by pilot352, | Category: General | 6 comments

OK gang, here’s the IPO (Initial Public Offering) of a new software app. called CoCoPAK. This software is the result of several months of research and work.

What is CoCoPAK? CoCoPAK is a software companion to Roger Taylor’s MicroSD Drive PAK. It will allow you to manipulate the SD card data off line, in a Micro$oft PC environment using a standard SD card reader connected to a USB port.

CoCoPAK Features:

- Import/Export of complete card images
- Import/Export of .DSK files to a RSDOS partition
- Creation/Deletion of Partitions
- Formatting new SD cards to work with the Drive PAK
- Formatting single partitions (effectively erasing only a partition)
- Displaying and saving complete RSDOS directories of a partition
- Displaying and saving card partition information
- Completely erasing SD cards so they can be formatting using other OS formats.
- A Card Snooper which gives you a window into the cards data

This is the first release of the software. During the next few weeks, there may be one or two releases to fix bugs that people may find. After that, in a few months, Phase two will be released. This release will have several new features that I wanted to put in but didn’t have the time to do it now.

If you find a bug or think of a feature you would like to see added, you can post it here or send me an e-mail at support @ franklinlabs.com (Remove the two spaces).

If you want to complain about the software, you can also contact me through e-mail. Please use this address for complaints: itsfreeso@Idontcare.com.

Note to VISTA and above users:
Sorry, but this software will no work correctly under Vista or above. Micro$oft put a block on direct sector access to all dives. This prevents this software from working. It should work if you run it under the XP emulation under Vista or you may try it if you have full administrative rights. But, these methods are not guaranteed to work. Later releases may have this dilemma solved.

I would also like to thank Roger for his support in the development of this software and the creation of the MicroSD Drive PAK.

P.S. All comments welcome (as long as they are full of praise and gratitude!! :o ) )

Great looking program, should come in very handy for MicroSD users. Nice work :)

Yes, Tim has written an extremely handy tool for loading up Drive Pak cards and customizing their layout.

When I start developing huge programs on MicroSD cards, I think this app will be used a lot.

This release seems to work fine so far under Windows 7 (if run As Admin).

I’m going to post this in the Downloads section.

    Great Work!

  • Any chance that this program will work, or could be made to work, with a CD card used in the Super IDE?
I bought that a few years ago, and I can not afford to buy another storage product.

Even if the MicroSD image can be written to a CF card, the CoCoNet ROM doesn’t know how to use the Super IDE pak.

Unfortunately no. this was written specifically for Rogers MicroSD system, sorry.
