Hi everyone!

I’m looking to get a Deluxe Joystick for my CoCo 2 and the CoCo 3 I bought on eBay recently. I’d like the 26-3012B model with the two fire buttons and 6-pin connector.

I know there are a couple reasonably priced on eBay right now, but they’re in auction format, and I much prefer a straight sale as opposed to bidding and waiting.

I don’t have much spare cash right now, so I’m looking to spend in the $10 range (this might be a little negotiable), including shipping. For reference, the two I’m watching on eBay right now are at $7 including shipping and $13 including shipping. I’m hoping someone on here might be willing to part with one at around that price range. Obviously, this will depend on how close you are to me, and how light you can make the package.

My zip code is 74006, so you can make the necessary calculations in order to determine if you can offer me such a deal.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

New guy here… I have recently been bitten by the CoCo bug after having been “out of the game” for probably 15 years. Once upon a time I had a pretty large system and collection of CoCo stuff (at least 2 computers, multiple floppies, hard drive, MPI, etc.). Unfortunately, most of my stuff found the bottom of a dumpster a long time ago. And now, I’m regretting it and looking to see what I can get.

I’ve only been looking around a few days but it seems like the people selling on Ebay want a small fortune. And most are selling the computer by itself, which leaves a lot of searching for other parts. I checked the local flea market to no avail.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions, or if anyone is looking to sell some extra hardware (at a reasonable price), please let me know.

Thanks!

My name is Terrance (Terry) Hale, and I’ve been looking around on the internet to see if anyone still had a copy of The Second Rainbow Book of Adventures. I had an “honorable mention” entry in that book, for the adventure “Castle of Naurios” (If I’ve remembered the correct spelling…). If the issue of Rainbow magazine that had the winners listed is also available, that would be such a huge bonus. (I can’t believe I let my ex-wife make me throw out 4 years worth of magazines a few years ago. I’ve been kicking myself ever since…)

If the book is still available for purchase, could anyone please let me know?? A reply back here would be ok or email to mizagorn@att.net might get a faster response.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!

Greetings all!

The work has been intense, the hours long, and the EPROM eraser/burner working overtime in my tests.

CoCoNet 1.0 is about a week from being finalized and released.

CoCoNet is a Disk BASIC 1.1 ROM replacement and is compatible with any CoCo 3 or CoCo 1/2 with Extended BASIC.

The 16K EPROM will fit in both my Deluxe Wireless RS-232 Pak and the new Drive Pak, or EPROM Pak. You just need to get the EPROM booted somehow and you’re set.
The least thing you’d need is a bitbanger cable and an EPROM pak/board.

Just a few things you could do using CoCoNet:
- Auto-boot into a Drive Pak, PC or web OS-9 system
- Remote virtual floppy disks over bitbanger cable, RS-232 Pak, or bluetooth (Deluxe Wireless Pak)
- MicroSD (Drive Pak) virtual disks, 1GB of storage any way you like
- Huge OS-9 “hard drives” on the Drive Pak or via remote PC/web
- Automatically run AUTOBOOT.BAS from Drive 0 on CoCo powerup, from the Drive Pak, PC or web!!
From AUTOBOOT.BAS, you can make the program boot up OS-9 or whatever you want, even launch a live web service.
- Grab web files and save them to a mounted remote disk using one Disk BASIC command
(a front-end HTTP GET command)
- Web services on power-up of the CoCo (wireless, wired, bitbanger)

Real 1793 controller disks
2GB MicroSD card (Drive Pak) disks (0-255) per partition, with virtually unlimited partitions and disks!
Bitbanger port disks using the CoCoNet server on your PC and a serial cable
Tandy RS-232 Pak + cable, or Deluxe Wireless RS-232 Pak remote disks over bluetooth
(CoCoNet can mount remote PC or web disks!)

All disks are compatible with the standard Disk BASIC 1.1 set of commands. In other words:
BACKUP, COPY, KILL, RENAME, SAVE, LOAD, OPEN, CLOSE, PUT, GET, etc. between all disks types.
(But you can’t write to web disks).

On startup, CoCoNet automatically mounts each drive type for 0-3 in an order of importance based on the devices you have plugged in. From BASIC you can remount the drives.
You can do this from the autoboot.bas program, for example.

Folks, all sorts of things are possible, and the CoCoNet “ROM” can be booted from whatever device you own that accepts a 27128 EPROM.

You just have to use your imagination, like when you’re looking at a set of BASIC commands and ask somebody, “what can I do with that?”. Pretty much everything.

From DOS you can mount the different disk types in any order and see the current mounts using the enhanced DRIVE command.
For example, typing DRIVE with no parameters would give a listing such as:
>DRIVE [ENTER]

DRIVE 0: DRIVE PAK 000
DRIVE 1: RS-232 PAK
DRIVE 2: BITBANGER
DRIVE 3: 1793 FDC

>DRIVE 0,#254 [ENTER] (change to MicroDrive disk #254 – NitrOS-9 Level II)
>DRIVE [ENTER]

DRIVE 0: DRIVE PAK 254
DRIVE 1: RS-232 PAK
DRIVE 2: BITBANGER
DRIVE 3: 1793 FDC

DOS (boots into NitrOS-9)

By the way, my *.BAS program checks what type of CoCo is in use and boots OS-9 Level 1 or 2 automatically. This means, you can take a Drive Pak and stick it in almost any CoCo and boot into “OS-9″ right on power-up.

On powerup, once the drive types have been chosen and mounted for 0-3, each drive will be scanned for an *.BAS program, with the first one found being RUN automatically.

You could have a *.BAS program on your PC, the web, the Drive Pak, and real disk drive. It doesn’t have to be the same program code.

Telnet is also handled by the CoCoNet server and using the right CoCo client software, you could connect to a remote Telnet server from BASIC or OS-9.

Again, if you can auto boot, it means you can do anything CoCoNet can do right after power-up.

Lots of fun, and power!

I have:

a TRS-80 (16k)
a Coco 3 plus original monitor
an external floppy drive
a cartridge changer (4 slots)
21 cartridges (various games and utilities – I can make a list)
2 original joysticks

This stuff is in various states of repair. The CoCo3 definitely works as do many of the cartridges but I haven’t tried them all. I do not have a monitor for the TRS-80, so I’m not sure if it works, but I do know the keys are all pretty stuck so at the least it would need some kind of intensive keyboard cleaning before it could be used if it is in fact functional at all.

I probably need to get rid of all this stuff in the next month or so. These are my original childhood computers, so I’m a bit sad to do so. I am feeling out my options at this point.. I don’t see any CoCos on ebay at the moment, so I’m not if there is any sort of demand for this stuff or not.

Well it looks like the keyboard on this coco 3 is shot. Looks like someone dumped coke in it and its been eating away. Can’t seem to clean it enough to work. Tried putting the mylar back in but for some reason can’t get it to line up properly. The traces and screw holes won’t line up no matter what I do. Weird (yes, I do have it the correct way. There’s really only one.

Anyway, I’m wondering if anyone has a functional coco 3 keyboard laying around they’d be willing to sell. Preferably the whole keyboard, not just the mylar so I don’t have to fuss with the thing.

Thanks, I do have paypal BTW

I’ve recently acquired a bunch of coco 3 stuff and want to sell it. I have the following:
Brand new in the box Coco3 (box is damaged, all components still taped shut) and I think it probably had the 512kb upgrade since it belonged to the same person that I got the other one from, which was upgraded.
Used Coco3 with 512kb upgrade
Used FD 501 with box and manuals
Magnavox 80 Professional Monitor with manual
Tandy DMP130 printer
assorted books & disks

I guess I’m hoping to get some advice here as to the value of these items and whether to eBay it as a lot (minus the NIB one) or part it out. I’ll take offers from anyone here who may be interested as well. Shipping will be high because I’m in Canada. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted at jillhorton06 at gmail.com
Thanks,
Jill

Cleaning out the workshop and thought I’d offer up some items of (possible) interest to the board. Up for consideration is a Tandy 1100FD notebook in good working order with AC adaptor, DOS floppies and manual. I’ll also toss in a second 1100FD as a parts machine (if you need it). Ships from San Antonio, Tx. 78216 which I’ll cover if you live in the US. I’m looking to trade for a working Floppy Drive and Disk Controller for my CoCo 3 or a Multibay if anyone has a spare. Thanks!

I have compiled a small collection of COCO stuff that needs a new owner. I advertised it before, and twice waited for someone to show up from downstate, and they never arrived. Please respond if truly interested, and ONLY if you’re in the Broome County area, thanks!
I have a coc2 and a coco3, both untested, but, as I recall, the CC2 worked, and the CC3 needed one resistor replaced. These have been in storage for years, and, sadly, I’ll never get time to use or test them. With the coco’s comes a small collection of Rainbow magazines, and a small assortment of parts. Send local inquiries, and I’ll work with you. I’d rather not send the pile to the dump. With spring here, I need the space. Thanks for looking!

Hello,
I’m an original CoCo user. I bought my CoCo I when they first came out. Actually, I worked for Tandy in the Model II plant doing repair on boards. There was two types of techs working back then, in-house repairs and post-sale repairs. In-house repairs were on boards that had failed during burn-in and usually consisted of broken or bent pins on the individual ICs that were installed on the boards. I worked on boards that had made it out the door and failed later. I also helped write the boards-level repair manual for the CoCos that was sent overseas to England, Austrailia, Japan and Canada. When it was decided to build the CoCo, the execs came in and took half of our people and moved them down the hallway and started building the CoCo I. I was in my attic the other day, and I found all my stuff from back then. I have the complete set of Hot CoCo mags, including Micro 80s. I also have several of the CoCo manuals, “Getting Started and the Extended Basic” books. I have my old CoCo I, the 5 1/4 floppy drive, many disks, and some repair parts (transformer, wafer keyboard, and some other items). I guess it’s time to get rid of the stuff. Any Offers???

I’d love to gather together enough CoCo stuff to build a small system again. Unfortunately, the area of the country I’m in is not familiar with the CoCo (I’m in North Carolina). Also, I’m unable to get out and scrounge in places like Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Even flea markets/swap meets are not popular around here.

I haven’t much money, but I still might help with postage/shipping.

Why is this auction out of control already? I’ve been looking for a CCR-81 cassette player for some time now – I really hate it when auctions get bundled like this, preventing members in the community from getting their hands on one particular item at a decent price. The auction is already up to $88.50 and there’s still almost 4 days left.

I really don’t think it’s the joysticks or the blank cassettes – Is it the modem pak that’s driving the price up??

any how, i will upload some photos to wet your appetitite

if these are not archived as anyone around the place turning them in to pdf format at all?

when i put my coco 3 in to sotrage it had a hitachi 6309 cpu and disto one meg ram upgrade and i had gutted out a tnday 1000 case and fitted in 2 x 40 meg mfm hdds and used a burke and burke controller and ran os9 level 2 on it with R.I.B.B.S and ran a bbs on it from home…. those were the days

so here is some photos of my coco 3 stuff. i have a heap more boxxes to go thru, but this will wet our appetite

i have included photos of my coco 3 i shoved in a hitachi 6309 cpu and a Disto one meg ram upgrade. i used to run OS9 Level 2 on this (similar to linux/unix) and had a few hdds attached to it & a 720k floppy drive (the hdd and 720k floppy setup & a hdd was almost unheard of) and ran a BBS from home on it for a few years. hopefully i can find the hdd setup i had

[img:0998ba87a9]http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/3851/coco3km5.th.jpg[/img:0998ba87a9]

[img:0998ba87a9]http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/6769/coco3basedm0.th.jpg[/img:0998ba87a9]

[img:0998ba87a9]http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/7962/coco3rearlm5.th.jpg[/img:0998ba87a9]

the above was my backup stock 128k coco 3, this is my one meg coco 3 , my mainwork horse when i was a kid for a number of years before i could buy an amiga 500, then on to pc stuff

[img:0998ba87a9]http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/1899/distoonemegcoco3rj7.th.jpg[/img:0998ba87a9]

you wil notice in the above photo there is a fan wired to a psu. i had to have this as the one meg kit would get do bloody hot would lock up the coco and & would get multiple coloured lines across the screen.
the 6309 could really kicked arse when used with nitros 09

[img:0998ba87a9]http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/5852/closeupofonemegkitandpsxr6.th.jpg[/img:0998ba87a9]

if you zoom in you can see i mounted the hitachi 6309 in a socket with monster legs on it. this was so i could mount the header to it to make the one meg kit run. the header was originally designed to be soldered straight on top of the 6809 cpu. very dangerous practice to begin with. but i didnt want the 609 so i destructivly removed it with nail cutters then unsoldered it from mobo and shoved in the new socket and tested with 6309 to see if it ran. it did. then i soldered the header unit to the socket to allow the extra 512k ram run
and then, man oh man, OS9 stood up on its hind legs and RAN… man its was bloody fast i tell ya. for a 1.79 Mhz cpu and 1024k ram and a decent OS running, bugger me, even today im still amazed at what i could do.

[img:0998ba87a9]http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/2186/onemegcoco3with6309vz1.th.jpg[/img:0998ba87a9]

the hitachi 6309 cpu in all its glory

[img:0998ba87a9]http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/2108/morecocobitsui1.th.jpg[/img:0998ba87a9]
more coco stuff, a spare fd500 floppy cage and spare 360k drive and a joystick & a coco serial to pc serial port adaptor i built years ago to transfer data from my coco to my pc and an magic black box my dad made for finding programs on cassette so you can listen to the cassette while it was plugged in to the coco.you could not normally do this

Id like to see this magazine collection dedicated to Fred as he is no longer with us unfortunately.

I received two messages recently and I think anyone interested in getting some Coco equipment or magazines should respond with reasonable offers to Fr. Joseph.

Greetings:

I have a collection of COCO stuff: three computers, two monitors, disk drives, multipak, game cartridges, and etc. I had intended to set up an Ebay account and sell the items, but that is no longer an option.

Instead of throwing the stuff away, I found your name through an Internet website, that you are in Michigan, and wondered if you would like to pick up my whole collection and sell or do what you would like with it.

Please advise.

Peace…

Joseph

Fr. Joseph Neiman
34462 First St
Paw Paw, MI 49079

jneiman@btc-bci.com

============================================================
Robert: Thanks for your reply. Any way you can help me spread the word, I would appreciate. I hesitate to throw out all this stuff. I have several years of Rainbow and Hot Coco magazines and a lot of stuff that other Coco users gave me in the past. If I can’t find someone interested, it will all be tossed.

Peace…

I’m hoping to start a little storm around the CoCo community.

I’m selling my entire CoCo collection. As much love as I have for it, it’s just not prudent for me to keep it around anymore. It’s been powered on for about 4 total hours in the last 9 years, and most of that has been the last 3 months getting all the pictures ready.
I know there must be some enthusiasts with much more, but you must agree this a very extensive collection. It took a lot to convince myself I’m finally willing to part with it all.

http://www.i8u2.com/coco/

Page is obviously a work in progress. I’m also experimenting with Google Picasa, as there is no way my home web server could host this many pictures (without it taking 10 minutes to load)
If there are image problems please be patient. All my testing looks pretty good so far.

Make offers, and I’ll put the going prices next to the items. I figure I’ll give each item a week.

I still have PILES more not photographed yet. Manuals, software, etc.

As it says on the bottom of the page… badfrog _at_ gmail -dot- com

In hunting for new coco hardware, I came accross many greedy sellers, but one thing more than most REALLY bothers me.

Search for radio shack color or trs-80 color or tandy color and you find some coco gear, software, and GAME PACKS.

I noticed some sellers right now who are selling the BOOK and the Game pack seperately, asking 2.49 to ship each. How greedy can these sellers be to seperate them just to rock you for 2.49 twice, plus get a couple extra bucks for the book? Is it just me or is that ridiculous?

There also seems to be some sellers on drugs, asking 149.00$ plus shipping for a coco2 that is literally brown from yellowing.

Its also a shame that many sellers are selling coco2′s with some peripherals so I think I may end up with alot of extra coco2′s that I don’t want just to get some joysticks or game packs or a disc controller.

Has anyone else here gone through the ebay route for refinding your old coco hardware? Seems to be alot of fair sellers but also some sharks on there, which is sad.

I mean, I’m willing to pay a fair price for the things I’m looking for but some of these guys are just crazy, seperating the game pack and the book is a perfect example of just GREED of some of these guys.

The shipping charge violations are also ridiculous, I noticed a whole thread here about that. Some of these idiots are trying to charge 39.00$ to ship a coco! Thats just crazy, unless they are packing it in 30$ worth of packing peanuts and packing tape in a brand new padded box or something.

Saddened in my searching,

Steven

I came back to cocoing some time ago and got pretty hooked on emulators.

I recently got a coco 1 at a flea market for 5.00$ recently, OMG the old battleship grey beast with the chicklet keyboard back in my hands again.
This was the first computer I had as a kid, so I was happy to have one again.
I almost hugged it when I got it home.

Next, I got a coco2 on ebay in amazing shape in a box, looks like it was never even used its so white and clean. I’m thinking about getting a coco3 from cloud9 next. Getting the cpu is easy, its the rest that seems to be tough, even on ebay.

I am looking for a multi-pak, disc controller and disk drives though just a controller would be fine I can rig my own floppys. Also looking for orchestra 90, speech/sound pack, rs232 pack and joysticks, the white radio shack ones, not the black ones. Cm-8 monitor would be nice, but I’ll probably just buy that VGA converter that is available now. I could also use a cassette drive and cables for that. Right now I am leaving the poor coco2 on for days since I have no way to save the programs.

Also, looking for coco 2 keyboard to replace the chicklet keyboard in my coco1, or appropriate replacement keyboard for the coco 1 chicklet keyboard.

Also looking for game paks of any type. Do you have any of this and would you like to part with them to a great home with a fellow coco-nut? Please post here or contact me with pm.

REALLY NEED the joysticks and a cassette drive, I can get by for awhile with just those, but they are hard to find even on ebay. I can buy game packs on ebay but I have no joysticks to play with them

If anyone would consider trading any of the stuff listed for pc’s or pc parts I have alot of that around.

paypal preferred, please give prices.

Thanks!

Steven

If anyone has one available or knows of one I would be interested. I already have a floppy drive and monitor. 512k upgrade would be awesome. I’m willing to pay, obviously.

Mainly this is for personal reasons…I first started programming on one of these. Also, my Opa (who passed away a year ago) did a lot of programming on it and I still have a number of disks of his old programs, mainly accounting programs he wrote for his electrical contracting company in Two Harbors MN, as well as song-lyrics displays. I wish we still had our original one!

I have a 501 disk and controller, and the drive looks like the standard half-height in the bottom of the case, and a blank panel above. I would like to slip another drive in there… it looks like the ribbon cable sort of sneaks in the back between the back of the case and the top surface, that must be “normal.”

Anyway, I’d be interested in a half height drive that I could just slide in there. I’m assuming that if I opened it up, I would see an extra connector on the ribbon cable. I don’t know if that’s true, so maybe I should take a look.

Anyway, a drive or even advice would be welcome. Thanks!

Hi all, I’ve been lurking here for quite awhile, mainly don’t contribute because I don’t have time to play with the toys anymore, I just enjoy the reminiscing!

I have a pretty extensive CoCo collection I’m thinking of selling. Time to move, and sadly I never touch the stuff anymore.

My system consists a 512k (almost typed meg… heh) CoCo3, an MPI (the beige one, but I also have a grey model too), a Disto Super Controller II, a CM-8 RGB monitor (not sure if that’s worth shipping), dual floppy setup.

The most important part to me was the Burke & Burke controller with what if I remember correctly is a 20meg drive. (last time I powered up the system was about 5 years ago- Not even sure I’m spelling the name of it right!)
And who would EVER need 20 Megabytes? That was just crazy talk!

Also, there is a modem card (RS-232? I forgot the term!!!) in the MPI, I believe it is the “Telepak II” I also have another available that was modded from the old modem pak.

This setup was king back in 1991.

Is it of any value at all, should I sell it as a lot, or separately? I’d like to avoid Ebay just because they’ve become pretty bad lately as far as supporting the customers.

Discovering this site got me to go up to the attic and actually see what I’ve accumulated in eBay auctions over the years (sometimes the only way to get some software or peripheral I wanted was to get a complete system). I was surprised to find out that I have two white “Color Computers” and three “64K Color Computer 2″s, in addition to some “128K Color Computer 3″s.

So I have a couple of questions…

(1) Is there any reason (aside from nostalgia) to keep around a CoCo/Coco2 if one has working CoCo3 machines? Back in the day I never owned a CoCo3 — I had gone from CoCo2 to Amiga and never got into the CoCo3 scene. Are CoCo3s fully backward-compatible with CoCo/CoCo2 machines, especially with respect to cartridges and drive controllers?

(2) Especially if the CoCo3 is fully backward compatible with CoCo/CoCo2, is there much demand for the CoCo/CoCo2? From what I can see with Google, it appears pretty much all CoCo activity these days is focussed on the CoCo3? Should I even bother trying to sell my CoCo/CoCo2 machines?

Thanks!

My husband and I stumbled onto a stash of old Byte and Rainbow Magazines. We listed most of them on ebay, and they will be up in the next 2 -7 days. But one set we DIDN’T list is what appears to be a set of the very first year of Rainbow (the newsletters). But we have read in a few places that they only made 25-50 copies of these. At least the first issue. Is there anyway to tell an actual first copy from a later reprint? Was the paper different? I noticed in the 4th anniversary issue where they reprinted the first issue, that the paper was considerably more yellow, and there was the word “VOID” printed over the subscriber part that you would have been able to mail in on the original. We’d really like to know what we have here, and would appreciate any help you all might be able to give.

Sorry for the following shameless self promotion:

If you want to check out any of the auctions we DO have listed for the magazines, search under ebay user udofred0gi9

I know it’s not exactly possible, since I lost track of them around 1988 (these were for the CoCo2, 16K), but I am sick of messing around with trying to find all of my favorite games and such using CASOUT (which doesn’t seem to give me the best results…1 in 10 games actually work loading into a real CoCo at that point it seems) or from these discs I bought from some dude on eBay with the restored wav files on them (there were 78 programs on these discs and I got about 15 games to work, but to be fair, I believe that some of them are for a machine with more memory than I have.)

MY TAPES NEVER GAVE ME ANY GRIEF!! Never! They loaded in, and that’s it! I never even had a real TRS-80 tape drive! I had a Hitachi boom box that worked extremely well for this. Some of my favorite tapes were actually made from other people’s tapes between two little tape recorders (God knows how many times they were copied before I got my copies, even!) and they STILL worked perfectly!!

There was one tape circulating around town here in the mid-eighties that had a series of machine-language games on them, and anyone who was anyone had a bootleg copy of them. I remember the one with the most games started like this:

WBRUN (Whirlybird Run)
TRAPFALL
BLOCHEAD
CATCHEM (I think this was next)

…and so on, including POPCORN, SKIING, ROBOTACK, INVASION, VENTURER, etc. I even had a working copy (possibly a DRAGON version) of ESCAPE!!!

I miss my tapes.

Anyone remember doing this…getting a tape from someone with games and programs on it that you did not know, and that minute or so it took to CLOADM into the machine was SO THRILLING. “F” is flashing….”F” is flashing…”F” is flashing…OK! YAY!! C’mon, man, run it!!! E X E C. Awesome.

Well, if anyone has the tape I mentioned, let me know, I would love to have a copy, but if not, what else can I do???

eric

Some guy that I know indirectly has a pile of coco stuff for sale for 75$

Evidently he needs to get rid of it and I need to make a decision within a day or so.

I have 2 coco 3′s and 1 or a couple coco 2′s so I don’t really need another coco for myself , but supposedly there is a disk drive , a printer, and a pile of software games and maybe some rainbow mags that go with it.

I have plenty of room here so I’m thinking of buying the stuff just to fill in gaps in my stash, and maybe pass the rest on to someone else.

Not lookin to get rich off it but maybe break even a little and help others fill in gaps in their collections rather than see the stuff wind up in a landfill somewhere

                                Nathan

Hi!

I am in the Seattle/Tacoma area of Washington.

I have had a CoCo3 since the 80s. It has been stored in its original box along with a RGB monitor and a disk drive. I don’t have the packing material and the boxes aren’t in the best of shape, but I recently tried the computer and it works. The monitor does hum a little. I did not try the disk drive.

I have no real use for it, but have been keeping it through several moves more out of nostalgia then anything else.

I would like to get rid of it, but would hate to just dispose/recycle it. Granted it is a old computer (With a whopping 128K of memory ) but considering this site is still active, I thought I would try it.

Anyone interested in it? If you want to pay for shipping, I’ll even ship it to you. Post if you are interested with whether you’d prefer UPS, FedEx or USPS

I would also rather keep all the items together. If the CoCo3 goes without the Monitor, I will just get rid of it. I didn’t dwell on it that long, but can try my best to take a video of it to see if I can capture the noise.

Many Thanks!

Seems I have more 5.25 drives then I remembered! After scouring through my treasure trove of a computer graveyard, I came away with:
[b:e3f4ae2c97]
(4) 5.25 360Kb Teac FD-55F’s,
(1) 5.25 Tandon like Teac 160kb?
(9) or so 3.5″ drives. A few I think are older 720kb’s out of an Epson 8088 laptop.
AND HERES THE KICKER, AN [u:e3f4ae2c97]8″ Shugart 801, 2nd gen drive.[/u:e3f4ae2c97] [/b:e3f4ae2c97]

What I had already,
(2) 5.25 Teac FD-55GFR’s, 1.2mb
(1) 5.25 Mitsubishi 1.2mb
(1) 3.5/5.25 Combo, 1.44/1.2
and a few laptop drives, 2 are 720kb from early IBM Thinkpads.

For those who don’t know, the original Shugart 8″ 800 was a crap drive, and the original 801 was the same drive with just different/more jumper settings. This is the 2nd gen redesign that is alot more reliable. I wonder if i should take the time to restore this, or just sell it. I don’t have any disks for it sadly beyond a few with bad sectors.

So now that I have this pile of drives sitting next to me, its apparently clear I have too many, but that is another story altogether! [u:e3f4ae2c97]What I need is an 5.25 Analog Alignment Diskette and the area needed to probe.[/u:e3f4ae2c97] I have a cheap homemade soundcard interfaced oscilloscope I was going to use for this purpose. 100Mhz is fast enough correct? Any comments or tips be helpful here. I cleaned all these drives already, and have yet to oil them. Hopefully this weekend. I do know the hack method, which is to slowly adjust it a step at a time, format a floppy and test it on another working drive, but I rather adjust the drives correctly.

On a side note, I can’t do much anything else at the moment. My Coco2′s keyboard don’t work correctly, and awaiting MrNukem to see if I can snag the machine he graciously offered. Worst case I gain some knowledge here in 5.25 cleaning/aligning and sell off a few of the restored drives and perhaps some new ribbon cables to buy a coco2/coco3 off eBay or Cloud09.

Also, is it worth the time/effort to modify a 3022 first gen 12v controller pack to work with an 1.44 HD drive as 4 disks in disk basic, or should I just stick to 720kb DD diskettes and use the Teac combo drive, or use both a 1.44 and a 5.25 independantly?

Recently I inherited a box of crap from a friend of mine. Upon opening the box I found a horror story. A crushed coco2! The keyboard was smashed, some caps broken off, the psu had its cable cut, ect. It was torn apart and in complete disarray. :S

I am currently trying to find a upper half of a shell casing for a coco2, to get this unit complete again. I received a unit that was terribly abused, and would like nothing more then to bring it back to life.

Please help me resurrect what would have been shipped to the dump. I would be willing to pay shipping ect, but don’t have alot of money for my hobbies atm. All I am trying to accomplish is a working coco2 and a drive to go with it. I have been able to find a few items on eBay, and snagged up what I could.

Coco 2 – missing the huge 4700uf cap, power supply, upper shell, among misc other chipped disc capicators and resistors that will need replacement. I haven’t had a chance yet to swap them out, but should be done soon. I did happen to have a few old keyboards in my attic, so that was easily replaced with a coco3 keyboard.

Basically im looking for any parts unit coco2, or just an upper shell. Also any ideas on how to get a Teac FD-505 working on a 3022 controller would be usefull also! Also I would be willing to trade some of the stuff I recieved that I dont really need.

=========
Coco 2 – in pieces. Do have 2 good keyboards though, coco2 and coco3.
3022 floppy pak and drive in misc pieces, but do have some other drives. Need a cable and help configuring a drive.
PBJ Inc PC PAK prototype board? Some sort of jdos diy pack. I could scan this in if someone could help tell me what it is.
Color Computer 2 Dust cover with DMP 105 printer dust cover
TRS-80 Coco Mouse ( black one w/ red button)
Few joysticks
Coco plug n power set, minus cart and instructions. Base only no cable.
ST-255 MFM hdd Seagate

Here’s a funny one. I’ve always wondered what happened to my “original” childhood coco. Battleship grey, chiclets replaced with aftermarket keyboard. How I would know it from the others: extended basic was a copy somebody installed on an eeprom or something. The copy was flawed: If you attempted to use the basic command mid$ as a statement (not function), the machine would hang up. So the following program would fail:

10 A$=”HOLLO”
20 MID$(A$,2,1)=”E”
30 PRINT A$

If this causes your machine to hang up, you’ve got my coco! Unless this flaw in extended basic was actually common. Sadly, it may be in a landfill somewhere…

I already tried an extensive search, but had no luck obtaining a schematic. I have all the major ic components for a coco 1/2 (SAM, VDG, CPU, MC1372, etc) on my shelf somewhere, and I wish to create a clone – but I need a schematic. Without one, I can make a clone based on a derivation of the memory maps, and the respective datasheets , but I don’t really want to go through this route

Thanks!
